The Materials Data Lifecycle

The MDMC has analyzed its requirements in terms of the complete ‘lifecycle’ of materials data in an engineering enterprise. This includes capture from internal testing, design, QA, or external references; analysis using specialist materials science methods; deployment to users, including integration with computer aided engineering tools; and maintenance of up-to-date and certified data. The GRANTA MI software meets the needs of the whole lifecycle.

Providing this complete solution is a key principle of the MDMC. Members recognise, many from direct experience, that it is of limited use, for example, having a superb system to capture and analyze materials data if the resulting information is never deployed to and used by the engineers that need it.
